Windows Installer Service Error 1719

After getting an XP Pro Boot problem fixed, I am trying to reinstall Office 2003 and am now getting the mesage " The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. You may be running in Safe mode or Windows Installer may not be correctly installed."

I have tried the Microsoft fixes but still no luck. I have warnings and errors in my event viewer . Error event 4609 and warning events 1001, 1004 , 1015 .

Any suggestions much appreciated !!!!

 

Download and install Windows Installer 3.1 v2.

Thanks guys but I have tried both Microsoft suggestions . Given the time I have spent with my boot problem and now trouble with loading Office 2003 , I think it is unfortunately going to have to be the "Reformat my hard drive and reload from scratch again " option which hasn't been used since Windows 98 in my case !!

 

I'd leave formatting as a very last resort.

Try System File Checker (Start, run and type in sfc /scannow ) or a Repair.

 

I tried running the scannow command but i keep getting a Windows File protection message asking for the Windows xp service pack 2 CD , which I don't have because my service pack 2 was updated over the internet !!!
As I was saying , formatting is looking good from where I sit !!!

 

Reinstall SP2 using, the Network install version.
