Windows live mail won't open

Windows live mail won't open, shows the logo and the spinning circle, but never opens. I can hear my email downloading. I had a power surge that shut down the computer...this is when the problem started. I tried a system restore. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Email opens with outlook, but I need to retrieve all of my old emails. Windows 7...live mail 2011. Computer is only 4 months old.

 

If you look in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail (User being your logon name) are there any files with .eml extensions?

This folder may be hidden so you will have to show hidden folders in Windows 7

Works for Windows 7 also.

Now open Outlook and drag an .eml file into the open outlook window. Do you see your email?
