Windows Media Player Video Video Settings

    When I play a movie file on Windows Media Player 10, I can't adjust any of the video settings, such as Brightness etc. (the pointer jumps back to the centre and the image doesn't change).

    This happens all of a sudden with any file and I don't know how to fix it other than re-installing Windows Media Player (although this only solves the problem for a short while before the same thing happens again).
