    Thank you in advance for your help.

    History: Started off with an Vaio XP SP1 laptop with an expired Avast on it.
    Windows updates installed a number of files and rebooted.
    Then unable to reboot in normal mode, only safe mode.
    SUPERAntiSpware was unable to install in Safe mode. Kept going and then Combofix seemed to sort the problem.
    I can now start in normal mode.
    When windows loads the System Configuration Utility box pops up and says it is currently in Diagnostic or Selective StartUp mode. I am a bit scared to choose the Normal startup mode in case it undoes any of the Combofix's fixes.
    Also, now Windows Security Centre has disappeared.
    I have attached the logs. Thank you.

    UPDATE so far: I have now been able to run SUPERAntiSpyware. I have attached the log. It found 2 problems.

    I am still having problems with the windows security centre.
    The error log has:

    Event ID: 7000
    The wscsvc service failed to start due to the following error.
    The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service.

    Thank you.

    Why have you not installed either SP2 or 3? Your system is vulnerable without the patches, as you now know.

    Let's just do this.

    First you need to put Combo on your desktop! It will not work where you have it:
    G:\ComboFix.exe

    Run this: Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    87729491

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\87729491.sys
    c:\windows\mmsmark2.dat
    c:\documents and settings\Charlotte\Local Settings\Application Data\epilyto.vbs
    c:\documents and settings\Charlotte\Local Settings\Application Data\daxe.lib
    c:\program files\Common Files\picy.vbs
    c:\windows\kimuna.pif
    c:\program files\Common Files\oqoh.reg
    c:\windows\system32\ozymuxi.reg
    c:\program files\Common Files\hasebugab.exe
    c:\windows\system32\balopurig.vbs
    c:\windows\system32\ynym.bat
    c:\windows\system32\mevytacaty.lib
    c:\windows\ewuleq.exe
    c:\windows\0535251103110107106.uio
    c:\documents and settings\Charlotte\Local Settings\Application Data\omides.exe
    c:\windows\system32\dilosa.dat
    c:\program files\Common Files\ynojubezot.lib
    C:\T4Ml.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ifat.lib
    c:\documents and settings\Charlotte\Desktop\Virus Removal Tool\is-T1QPT\startup.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Charlotte\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\is-t1qpt.lnk
    C:\Documents and Settings\Charlotte\Desktop\delself.bat
    C:\Documents and Settings\Charlotte\Application Data\inega.db
    C:\Documents and Settings\Charlotte\Application Data\wepegapoku._dl
    C:\Documents and Settings\Charlotte\Local Settings\temp\jeteba5.tmp

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\Charlotte\Desktop\Virus Removal Tool

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    [IMG]
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
