windows product key not valid?

    i am installing a new hard drive in a pc that came with winxp. during setup im am trying to use the original product key but it says not valid. is there any way to reuse the product key?

    Just the way you are doing.

    Are you certain you are using the very key that it came with, with the same XP CD?

    thanks, I got it. I was using a winxp cd when I should have used the original "reinstallation" cd that came with it.
