    Had the Windows Recovery Bug and I ran AdAware and Spybot and they said that they fixed the problem. (System running XP SP2). I have been able to unhide most of my files but I still cannot:

    see anything inside of files from startup menu (lists them as empty when clicked.

    Run a System Restore

    I am getting redirects and popups where I never did before. Especially from search pages.

    iexplore.exe keeps on starting in the project manager even when I am not online (but when I am connected to my DSL).

    I would LOVE to fix the startup menu and system restore functionality and get rid of the hijacking. I will post a HiJack this Log (so far able to do that). Any help appreciated!

    ALSO, I was able to unhide using unhide.exe and some "manual unhiding". Functionality of most programs is there, I am just unable to use the startup menu and system restore.

    Hello, fishcop076

    Please attach the entire C:\MGlogs.zip file as requested for TimW - not individual logs from it.

    Sorry about that but when I tried it the first time I tried to attach the file from my folder on the desktop, it unzipped the files and your site limits me to 4 attachments. This time I just double clicked it in the C: and it attached. Please let me know if there is anything else you need.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\21421860
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~21421860
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~21421860r

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    [IMG]
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Use THESE instructions for adding items to the start menu.

    Please attach the new Combo log and tell me how things are running.
