    Hello!

I've been trying to fix my dad's laptop and have had no success. When the laptop boots up a windows folder named "search" comes up. I have checked the registry values, startup menus, and msconfig. I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. What am I missing?

    1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter.

    2. Navigate to

    [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Run
In the right pane look for any of invalid entries and delete them (take a backup before deleting an entry from registry).
