    Having recently installed Windows 10 pro I have a couple of considerations.
    Windows start up sound and shut down sound does not happen.
    Also when Windows shuts down, Shutting down is written on the screen. Monitor shuts down but the fans in the desktop still spin. Until I physically turn off the power.

    I came across http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...r/18e45aad-0c6a-409e-8ad9-1c0a9ecfe2c5?auth=1

    and following sfc/ scannow in cmd window I get the following;

    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
    Details are included in the CBS.log windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log.
    Note that logging is currently not available in offline servicing scenarios.

    Now check for the issue...

    I have attached the CBS.log file

    Any thoughts as to what I should do?

    That said I'm going forward with Method 2: Run the DISM Tool.

    Many thanks,
    s

    the CBS.log file is too large to add as an attachment.

    The CBS log should be zipped first then uploaded.

    That's good mdonah I'll do that.
    Went through the second method and it gave me;
    Error: 0x800f081f

    The source files could not be found.
    Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature.
    For more information on specifying a source location, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077.

    The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\logs\dism\dism.log

    I will attach the dism.log file in the zipped attachment along with the CBS from post 1.

    Many thanks.

    You do not need the CBS log at all. You just follow the guide and it creates a text document of the results to the desktop:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929833#bookmark-cbs log

    "To view the details that included in the CBS.Log file, you can copy the information to the Sfcdetails.txt file by using the Findstr command, and then view the details in the Sfcdetails.txt. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Open an elevated command prompt as described in the previous step 1.
    2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

    Sorry for not being very responsive but I had a look at the above zipped file and it seems there is only one file that needs to be sorted.
    That is;
    opencl.dll
    and can be found;
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\opencl.dll

    Is this right?
    My partner has a windows 10 pro 64 bit laptop. Should I follow the instructions to
    How to manually replace a corrupted system file with a known good copy of the file

    found in https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929833#bookmark-cbs log

    (Thank you MaxTurner,)

    Kind regards,
    s.
