    Hi,

    I have a computer which I haven't updated in a while. (Dumb, I know).

I have been trying to update it all day today and it keeps hanging at "Checking for the latest updates". I even let that screen run for 45 minutes and it was still working.

When I close IE it crashes and I have to stop it in the task manager.

I have run symantec, adaware, trendmicro and they all find nothing. I am about to run Spybot.

I have tried manually downloading the Windows update and running it.

I have tried disabling my firewall and Symantec.

I have tried stopping the DNS cache service as suggested on Trend micro.

I want to try connecting in safemode, but safemode disables my wireless...driver? I start IntelPROset and it says it can't find a wireless card. (sorry have forgotten exact language.)

    Argh! Going crazy here.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!
