just recently got my new Dell Vostro 200...everything was fine for the first 2 days, then now, once i startup, i have this pop window from my toolbar tray on the right that says "Windows has blocked some Startup Programs"

i clicked on it and have an option of "Show or Remove Blocked Programs" or "Run Blocked Programs"...i then proceed to the Show or Remove option which loads Windows Defender...i scroll through the list and basically i see Permitted or Not Yet Classified. I'm assuming that the Not Yet Classified are the ones causing the problems, i click on it, and all the info about it is on the right side of the panel...but the Remove/Disable/Enable option are grayed out. I dont know what to do so i can get of the blocked programs or whether or not i'm doing this right...among the "not yet classified" are

    EULALauncher.exe
    dsca.exe
google desktop (this is the side bar right?, which displays temperature and news~if so, i'm fine with this so i dont know why it would be 'blocked' since i'm seeing it)
Winampa.exe (this should be fine as well since its my default music player

please help so i dont have to see that popup message each time i logged in, thank you

If, when you click on the little button/message in the taskbar, you select the other option, then it should display the System Configuration. Alternatively you can get to System Configuration by going to the control panel>Administrative Tools>System Configuration. Then click on the startup tab and see what, if anything, is unchecked. From there you should be able to determine wether or not it is something that you want to leave disabled. I believe if any services are disabled it will display the same message on startup, so if nothing under the startup tab is disabled, then check under the services tab to see if anything there is unchecked. I'd advise checking with someone more knowledgable than me here on majorgeeks or doing some research before making any changes to startup options, but at least by doing this you will be able to see what deselected startup option is causing the message at startup.

ah...if that is the reason, i do have some things unchecked...but i just dont want to cause any lag time when my pc is in startup mode, so i disable quicktime and some other startup stuff i dont use...

can anyone confirm if this is the reason...

how do i permanently removed software from the msconfig startup tab?

    thanks
