What do I use to scan while scanning with System Restore turned off? Only CCleaner or all 4 of the cleaners I downloaded? Thanks in advance!

You are not supposed to be turning off System Restore to do scanning. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish. Step 4 comes after steps 1 thru 3 not before.

Yes I understand that. I have followed steps one through 3. When I got to step 4 it said to follow what I quoted. I went to the the link to turn off system restore and it says this:

Were you still having malware problems? If so, you should not be doing step 4. You should be posting your logs and asking for help.

Did you have any malware to begin with? If so, was it cleaned up and now you have no problems? If so, there is no reason to re-scan since you have no more malware.

If your problem was just that you had detections of malware that were in System Volume Information (which is System Restore) then the act of just disabling System Restore removes them. The scan afterwards is only to convince yourself that the infected restore point were removed. So the "scan" you would run is whatever scan showed you infected restore points.

I wasn't sure if I was still having problems after completing steps 1-3, then I had to run some errands, came back and they were still there. So I did post for help.

Yes. There was a zlob and smitfraud that kept showing up. as of right now the smitfraud is gone but the zlob is still there. I did post about seeking more help after doing a search of the threads to see if anyone else had the same issues as me. I did attach the logs in my post.

Thanks for all your help. My other post is in the malware section.

Okay that was what you should have done before worrying about step 4. You should have attached the logs to this thread. Since you have started another thread and are receiving help there, this thread is now closed.
