Hi, I have a HP Pavillion dv5000 running XP (32-bit). Yesterday, the computer began to have an issue where the \ (backslash) would take over any text-imput. Notepad,Word, Browsers, any thing that requires a keyboard entry is affected by this. I cleaned the keyboard but the problem persisted, and while I was hunting for more information this forum came up.

I ran the Malware removal instructions, but the problem persists so I've included the logs to the best of my ability. Please ignore any strange endless \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ strings that might be at the tops of the logs, that's the issue/error showing up and I might not have been fast enough to save/close the log before the issue could appear.

I am typing this from a MacBook, so please be kind and liberal with any instructions, because I have to use the mac to download/read any instructions and then move them to the problem PC.

Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
