Ok here is my problem, I had been using the Windows created Admin. account. Then i created an account for my wife and could not select limited access so I selected her account to be admin. When my computer restart for no obvious reason, my account is no on the welcome screen and therefore it logs in to her account. I cannot figure out how to get back to my account or ALL of my files. Can someone help me please? Thank You

Are you seeing a screen like this, but with only one user name?:

If you are not seeing this click start > logoff > switch users.

If it is the case that you ARE seeing this screen, and your admin account is missing, I'm affraid I do not know.

First off the admin account is there for administrative purposes. It shouldn't be used for general use.

If you have fast user switching on then you will see the screen above.

Boot up your computer and let it log into your wifes account.

Goto to start and log off.

Once you see the screen above press Ctrl Alt Delete twice.

The screen will change and give you a logon screen.

Logon as administrator and create yourself a new account for yourself.

    This should sort you out.

Ok, so I got back onto my account. Is there anyway that I can create another account for me and transfer all the files and settings over to that account from the admin. account? That would be great if I could do that. Thanks.

Right click start / explore ...open the user account and copy each start up folder (shortcut ) to the other user files.

right clikc start ...click explore ....c/docs and settings/all users/start menu/programs ....this should list all the start up programs (short cuts) .....if there are some in your admin account (c/docs and settings / admin / start menu / programs) that you want in a different account ..highlight them and choose copy ...copy into that account in that folder (c/docs and setting/your account name/start menu/programs)

Ok that worked for the programs and I know how to get the files to the other account. But is there a way to transfer the settings (i.e. fonts, screen resolution, icon spacing, etc.) to the new account?

Only suggestion I would have for the copying error be to make sure the user account you are logged in as is not he one you are copying the files to or from; log on as your wife or create a new temporary admin account if necessary.

Ok I got everything transferred, but I was wondering if anyone could direct/help me so I can transfer my emails. I use Outlook and I need to transfer the e-mails for the admin account to my new account.

Outlook data is stored in a "PST" file. Default path is "c:\docs and settings\<username>\local settings\applicaton data\microsoft\outlook", but if it is not there just search for "*.pst". Find the file, copy it to you desktop, then in Outlook go to file->import or export->import from another program or file->personal folder file (.pst)->follow the wizard from there. :)
