    Hi all,

I debated putting this into Networking, but my problem is just with this one software program. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the new version of Winmx that was just released on July 2nd? I have been using this P2P for years with no problems but after I installed the new version I cannot search for files (search page remains "searching") and even though others can queue up to DL from me their DL's will disconnect before they can DL a file.

I uninstalled the new version and installed version 3.30 which I found on an "Old Versions" web site, and I can now DL a song but still, no one can DL from me. (This happens on a secondary connection. I normally use a primary connection without problems.) I have no clue as to what version of Winmx I was running before installing version 3.53. I recently installed Kaspersky's AV version 5.0.142 but that is the only change I've made to the configuration of my PC or software since Winmx actually worked. I posted to Kaspersky's forum and apparently no conflicts exist between the two programs. I have Acronis backup CD's but would like to know if there are any problems/conflicts between any of my software applications. This is a bummer. Winmx is the only P2P I use.

    A few specs:

    Zone Alarm Pro v4.5.594.000
ADSL connection through Bellsouth Fast Access DSL (Connection ok)
    Westell Wirespeed A90 modem/router
    Windows XP Pro
    384 mb RAM
    Pentium 3 Processor

    Thanks in advance,
    Gina

    Hi Goldfish,

No, I didn't try that because with Zone Alarm Pro I normally just have to allow the program access (with Winmx I gave server rights.) I will try configuring port 80 to allow incoming/outgoing TCP and UDP packets if you think it will help though. I'll try it now and post back.

    Thank you!

Hmmm.... I went to Winmx's Internet Connection Settings and reset the port for "Incoming TCP Connections" and "In/Out UDP Packets" to port 80. Before I did that I made sure to set Zone Alarm Pro to allow incoming and outgoing TCP and UDP on port 80 (didn't know if this was necessary or not.) Not only do I have the same problem (screen shot attached) but when I run a search that usually brings up a few hundred results (such as just the name of a popular recording artist) it brings up 6 or so instead! I also get nothing under the "chat" feature, no rooms are listed at all!

Should I just give up and use the Acronis CD's?

    Much thanks in advance,
    Gina
