I have a Dell 4700 WinXP system. It came to me with "Pop-up" issues. After looking over the system I found three things I know were not correct..

1.) It had "Mypcbackup" installed (owner did not install) also, I have uninstalled it.
2.) It has "Better Browsing" installed (a know pain in the A$$ )
3.) Also there is the annoying "addthis" that pops up on 80% of the pages that are visited. (see attached jpg of the addthis icon) I did not find a plug in on Firefox nor was addthis in the uninstall directory. It's a mystery.

I ran all the scan's and have attached the logs. I did have 2 issues with scans. see below...

1.) I ran "Hitmanpro" it found many items in regards to "mypcbackup" I did delete all the items found however, I deleted the log file (so nothing to log) DOH

2.) Rougekiller does not like this PC. This happens every time I try to run it. It starts to run and my PC restarts during the scan. I have tried to run 8 times. Each time, the PC restarts by itself in the middle of the scan. Note: I followed all the directions in "how to scan & log"

After all scans ran and cleaned, still the addthis is here. (it's on the page as I type this).. Thank You for any assistance
    Regards

Please do not attach HijackThis logs. We do not need them or want them as stated in the forum sticky threads.

It's on everyone's browsers that comes here. This was added quite a few months ago to the webpage layout by Tim and Jim.

You need to remove MGtools.exe from the below location. It should never be anywhere except where we request which is C:\ or directly on the Desktop folder.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Steve Peck\My Documents\Downloads\MGtools.exe

You can run the below to help cleanup any remaining junkware related files.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Other than that, your logs are fine.
