WINXP Freeze & Crashes... way of life?

It Freezes up.
... when it is left downloading for a little while.
... while surfing
... if left witrh a browser of either variety (ie or FF) open long enough to go to sceen saver (set to 3 min)
... for just about any or no reason whatso ever on any occasion

... i can walk away or be here writting an email and the mouse will simply cease to respond. Keyboaerd will not respond and I have NO choice but to restatr.

Currently running msn msg; SpyWare Doc; PC Tools Virus scan free trial; cussed "Register WinXP " reminder.
Have Pc Tools RegMech on board but not running in the back ground.

Posting this QUICK before it freezes up again.
has hapened three times since start up at 7AM.

Any suggestions or knowlegable HELP greatly appreciated.

Hi, try these first:
* Try booting into safe mode with networking. Does the same thing happen?
* Also try disabling ALL anti-virus and firewall applications and make sure you have only one of each installed.
* Disable your screen saver
* Update your graphics driver

 

If you find it most likely to happen on the net, I'd supsect your network card, and/or its driver.
