winxp upgrade problem

I upgraded my winme machine to winxp now I have a problem with either Dr. Watson or explorer.exe. When I right click on the screen I get an error saying "Dr. Watson postmortem debugger has caused an error and has to close." Then I ctrl alt delete and explorer.exe is at the top of the list taking alot of cpu usage. Any ideas out there? I'm thinking of starting off again and wiping the hard drive clean. Ive already lost all pictures and music anyways by deleting my old user name.

 

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

I already have in selective startup with only the virus protection loading and it still does it. I havent tried safe mode yet.

 

Somehow, I don t think you are in quite as extreme a selective startup as the article I linked to shows.

 

I just tried safe mode and it does the same thing.

 

IMHO, its not worth fighting it then, if it happens in Safe Mode.

I'd wipe it and start over.
