Wired PC losing connection after wireless device introduced to network

I purchased an iPad mini a couple of days ago. Ever since I've brought it home and connected it to my home wireless network (I have a Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway with both Ethernet and wireless connections) my desktop PC will lose its connection to the Internet, and I will get a 'ethernet cable unplugged' notice on my PC (I check the plug on both ends and they are firmly plugged in). The light on the network adapter at the back of my PC is off. If I shut off my iPad, after a few minutes I will have a connection with my PC again. I've noticed this correlation multiple times in the last few days, from turning on and off the iPad. I've also noticed that if my brother is using his PC his will remain connected (also a wired connection) whereas mine will drop connection completely until I shut my iPad off. This is strange as I also have another wireless device (iPhone) which does not cause this problem.

I've tried updating the drivers for my network adapter (on my motherboard, an ASUS P8Z77-VLX), I've checked the Cisco website for any firmware updates (looks like my firmware is the latest version), even tried different ethernet ports for both me and my brother's connection. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help in advance, I've tried googling this problem and I can't find any help.

 

may want to check and make sure your ipad isnt getting the same ip address as your pc. duplicate ip addresses can cause crazy problems like that. thats the only thing i can think at the moment.
