Any clues that will reconcile my inability to effect the wireless connection of a HP laptop to the internet?

Wireless connection to the internet is blocked after Symantec Antivirus software was uninstalled from the HP computer.

Router is not at issue because other equipment, albeit non-Vista, can connect and tunnel onto the internet.

NIC card setting appear correct, with access via automatic address assignment.

You may need to use this tool - Norton Removal - to completely remove all traces of Symantec products.
Good procedure would be to run it once, reboot and run it a second time.
If you still have problems connecting after this, post back with some information on computer specs.
    Hope this helps.
