Wireless Connection Shuts My Computer Down Completely. Please Help!

Hi Everyone,

I've been having a problem with my wireless connection. First off, I have a linksys Wireless -G router, WRT554G V8, and a linksys wireless -B adapter, WUSB11 V2.8 (I'm just working with what I've got at the moment). When I connect with the router directly connected to the computer, I'm fine. However, if I open up internet explorer or firefox using the wireless connection, my computer completely shuts down!

Why is this happening? What should I do? The drivers I installed are the correct ones from linksys. It has been very frustrating.

 

UPDATE!

This made me feel really stupid, but I put two and two together and I think I know what happened. I did not have the wireless adapter connected directly to the computer. Instead, I tried to connect it to a USB hub. Because the wireless adapter is powered by the computer, I think it had to do with it being run through the hub first. It works fine now that it's connected directly to the computer. Could someone tell me exactly why I was having this problem, though? I think I know, but I would like if someone more educated on this could give me the exact reason.

 

Is your USB hub seperately powered via AC adapter? If not then some of the power from computer is powering the hub and there might not be enough power for the wireless adapter.

There is a limited amount of power a computer/motherboard supplies per USB port.
