    Hi.

My wireless router internet light which is normally green turns to red lately. My internet works fine though. Can someone explain this?

    Thanks.

Do you mean turning off/on or reseting?

Pulling the plug for at least a minute, though a reset might be needed.

I left router unplugged for a few minutes this morn. The red light is now back though. I will re-set router it later. I am puzzled that my Internet still works though. :confused

The red light does not necessarily mean no wifi; it could mean security is off.
    Check your router settings.

I reset the router but the red light is back. Here's an image of the router events Log.

The four error simply show it can't connect to open DNS
    http://www.opendns.com/
    because of the firewall.
That is a configuration problem you must solve.

So that's the cause of the red light?

I've been using OpenDNS for a while and did not have this issue before. The firewall has not been changed. I do not know the solution other than changing DNS servers.

In network manager, I've set IPv4 Settings to 'Automatic (DHCP)'. Yet this morn the red light is there. Attached is a screenshot of the latest warnings.

If you are getting the Red light. You need to contact your DSL provider to find out what is going on. If you take the modem and plug it into the NID on the outside of your home (Gray box. Plug it into the test jack that has a short telephone cord plugged into it.

If you still get a Red light, then there is something going on with either the modem or your line.

    Hi brownizs.

The red light only comes on when I'm using the wireless router from my desktop. Another person in the house has a laptop and they never get the red light when they are solely connected.

I'm not sure what the NID is. Do you mean plugging the router directing into the wall where the telephone goes also? Bypassing the splitter?

I've not seen the red light for a number of days now. The issue seems to have been solved.
