Here are the specs for my situation.
I have a 5-year old Toshiba Satellite notebook and she has a new Acer netbook. I have a direct Internet connection via ADSL modem. She gets her internet from my router.
    Router: D-Link Wireless G Router, DIR-300
    Modem: ADSL CPE
    Windows XP Home
    IP Address: 192.168.0.101
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

There are 8 wireless networks serving our area, with two specifically working in our condo building.
Both the local LAN and wirelss networks are connected to the wireless system on my PC thru a router. When I go to my girl friend's netbook in the next room, both networks(LAN and wireless) are disabled(red X's) and when I click on the networks screen, I get an error message: No wireless networks were found in range. What to do?
BTW, this happened a month ago and I forget which forum helped me. I carefully copied the instructions(which included typing in a new IP address)
to a folder and now I can't open the folder! I should have printed a hard copy, but deja vu is always 20-20..
