Would Overclocking provide a noticable gain?

So atm I have an E8500, and im planning to buy some new RAM.

Would I notice a big difference between buying some 1333 Mhz RAM and leaving everything at stock compared to buying some 1600 Mhz RAM and overclocking the processor to match.

the sticks i was looking at the 1333 Mhz would have slightly better timings if that makes a difference? 7-7-7-20 vs 7-9-7-24

Nah on the memory. You already have great stuff, just OC the proc for whatever reason you might have.:)

Need to be sure that your machine will even let you overclock.
    Many won't.

Good point but if someone's vacillating between getting 1333's or 1600's like I have, I would think that they have a handle on that aspect of their build.;) If they don't, well that's kablooie!!!:-D

Oh, BTW. Unless you run a benchmark with the memory, you'll never see a difference. Why do you even want to OC?
