The wrong Laptop adapter was plugged into my laptop by my grandson, now the laptop is dead. Is my motherboard fried, or is everything fried, meaning memory, hard drive, cd-rom, etc. It is an IBM A30. I tried the right adapter on it and nothing happens. I did put some extra memory I had in it and it is still dead. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know weather to take to shop or buy new laptop. Thanks

What are the voltage specs of both adapters?
That might give us a clue, but I don't like your chances. :cry :( Bazza

There may be an inbuilt fuse to cover these sort of possibilities, and protect the innards.

Maybe get a shop to check it out before outlaying $$$ for a new laptop. Bazza
