WXP Pro freezing w/in 1 minute after startup

Computer freezes within one minute of startup. Runs in safe mode. Running WXP Pro. Went through the recommended malware and Hijack This! processes and found lots of problems, but the major one of freezing has not stopped. Had to run Hijack This in safe mode, because it would not run in normal mode. Any thoughts on what I may be missing? Thanks. Since I did not know where to post, I also posted this message in spyware specific.

 

One thing to consider is the power supply. Lots of strange behavior
can be caused by a failing ps.
But can you fill in some more details?
What is the wattage of the power supply? (open up the case
it will tell you on the side of the power supply)
How long have you had the computer?
What brand?
What hardware are you running?
How long has the problem been going on?
Did it suddenly start happening out of the blue?
Have you successfully deleted all of the spyware/adware/viruses that you found?
