Xerox Docuprint Install Toner Cartridge error

    I have an Xerox Docuprint C1110 colour laser printer I'm about to throw off a tall building :)

    I was using toner refill kits and replaced CMY colours fine. When it came to black, I replaced the toner, installed the new chip and now my printer keeps displaying the message "Install Toner Cartridge [k]". I've tried to fix it but the message won't go. I tried installing a brand new genuine cartridge and still get the same message.

    Could these refills have somehow damaged the printer?
    Any suggestions on how to fix it?
