XP/2K networking problems

    Hi all.

Today I went to my client's house to help him set up a network of
two PC's (WinXP) and one laptop (Win2K) using a Linksys Router.
Setting up just one was a problem as the client had given me the
wrong username for his BT ADSL connection!! To cut a long story
short, the two PC's ended up fine, connecting to the internet and
seeing each other. But the laptop would not access the internet,
although I could ping the other machines to and from it.

Would anyone know if there are compatibility issues with 2K/XP that
prevent them from sharing an internet connection? I am sure you are
all aware that setting up a small office / home connection is simple
in XP, but there is no option in 'new connection' from within 2K.

This was a very frustrating day having spent many hours on the main
connection, only to find that the 2K laptop would not join the fun!

Any help would be appreciated as I feel quite a failure right now.

    Cheers
    Richard
