Hello, this is my first time on this forum.

I ran through the first parts of the following thread to try to fix my PC:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

    Got to step 2 on:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=139313

Then after running "SUPERAntiSpyware - running & getting a log" My PC rebooted.

I went to start step 3, running Maleware, but it errors out not being able to determine what program to use to launch the executable. Then I tried other programs and nothing executable will launch now. I am kind of stuck here.

    Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mike

Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.

Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Administrator

You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
    1. Rkill.exe
    2. Rkill.com
    3. Rkill.scr
    4. Rkill.pif
Once you've gotten one of them to run then try to immediately run the following.

Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then double click on it to run it.

    AVPFind.bat

It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt file that is will hopefully create as long as the malware does not block the batch file from running. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    Now download and Run exeHelper
    • Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
    • Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
    • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
    • A log file named log.txt will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com
    • Attach the log.txt file to your next message.
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Now try and continue to work your way thru the R&R. :)

You mean you are back to working your way through the Read and Run Me First? Attach the logs when you are ready. :)

    Which logs would you like?

I am done with the process and it looks like my PC is now clean aside from not being able to turn on Automatic Updates.

    Thanks

    Mike

Then I would like to see logs from running the following:

    • SUPERantispyware
    • Malware Bytes
    • RootRepeal (Unless you are on 64 bit)
    • Combofix
    • MGTools

If you would like for me to check for any possible remaining stragglers. :)

Here are the logs. I could not find how to get Combofix and MGTools logs. Also, I could not get RootRepeal to work ever.

    Thanks

    As stated in the instructions:

    Combofix log is at: C:\combofix.txt
    Log from MGTools are C:\MGLogs.zip.

    I need to see those.

Uninstall the below outdated Java versions.

    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 22

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    rcder
    uvaxmubt

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

I get "Access denied, make sure that you have the correct authorization or that the disk is not write protected" when I try doing the drag/drop onto Combofix. I tried to download a new copy and get the same error.

Then replace anything I wanted to do with Combofix with Avenger instead. (See below fix) Then continue with everything else in my previous post # 11.

What's inside of this folder? Tell me exactly or show me with a screenshot please?

    c:\documents and settings\LocalService\PrivacIE

Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

The only thing in that folder is "Index.dat"

I attached the error I get with Combofix and the error I get trying to get avenger.

    Thanks

Sigh. Let's try a third tool.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Right-click OTM.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.
    Code:
    :services
    rcder
    uvaxmubt

    :files
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\ksnby.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\vtiy.sys
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\hkyk.exe
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\gjew.exe
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\abno.exe
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\eyli.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\Application Data\ygag.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\Application Data\yjyg.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\Application Data\llwa.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\Application Data\lomd.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Templates\fqhu.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Templates\oidm.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Templates\qgud.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Templates\tjvd.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\Application Data\4jt08j3453lv6eerv3ryh58wlpwkbx274umkyc5s2batk27
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\Application Data\x4b53ld614gvls8yk373n4653qf420356ed4o7r6
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\4jt08j3453lv6eerv3ryh58wlpwkbx274umkyc5s2batk27
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\x4b53ld614gvls8yk373n4653qf420356ed4o7r6

    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Templates\x4b53ld614gvls8yk373n4653qf420356ed4o7r6
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Local Settings\temp\x4b53ld614gvls8yk373n4653qf420356ed4o7r6

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large [IMG] button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Now continue the rest of the instructions, in post #11 after the Combofix steps (Obviously skipping using CF)

It is not accepting my password for administrator and it will not run as the home user.

I get Administrator to work in Safe Mode should I do this there?

Kestrel13! Super Malware Fighter - Major Dilemma Staff Member

Yes try using safe mode to implement the fix. On the affected user account obviously.
