XP Pro & older computer

We just got the XP Pro disc, but haven't installed it because I dont' know if it will actually end up slowing the conputer down instead of making it faster. We only have a 32GB computer.

Is that a Windows 98 or 2000 computer? You may need to shut down XP's glitz to have it run faster.

 

I run an upgraded Windows 2000 , my wife's is an upgraded Windows 98. Both run Windows XP SPK 3. After install , right click My Computer,,click Advanced,,first one says Visual Settings,,click settings,,check the custom setting box,,then uncheck all but the last 3 boxes. You will keep your XP BLUE color scheme!!!!

 

Can I assume the new XP will replace the old one & take up its space? we only have 3GB of space left.

 

I'd back up your important stuff first(you should always do this anyways) as reformatting will wipe everything off! Tell XP to do a format and reinstall. What's the issue that makes you think you need a re-install?:confused

 

It's not XP. It's XP Pro.

 

It doesn't make a difference in this case. IIRC, Pro just has better networking solutions. One last time, why do you think you need to re-install?

 

My DH got the disc from work. I will tell him we dont' need it, then. Thanks to all who replied.
