XP Pro Prefetch Oddity...

I have prefetch enabled in my registry and when cruising into c:\windows I find that I have no prefetch folder to empty. In fact, no prefetch folder on the system.

Can someone tell me what I am not understanding here? If it was just in a different directory that wouldn't be a problem... but no folder at all suggests that it is disabled completely (which I wouldn't want to do on a system with a whole lotta RAM, right?).

    Thanks.

... just for fun I created the folder in the Windows directory. Rebooted and it's gone!

And yes, I have the folder view options set so everything shows. Strange one to me.

do you have any tweaking apps that may turn off prefetch?

another thing in services is Task Scheduler disabled or auto? IIRC it needs to be auto as its linked with prefetch!!

The task scheduler thing would do it! I have it turned off...
