XP Start up is hanging

    I know this is nothing new but it is new to me. Suddenly, my startup is hanging on the Windows XP screen. The running blue line under the words moves at irregular speed. This screen holds for about 30-45 seconds and the screen then goes black for about 15 seconds and then evrything strats and the computer runs fine. There are no conflicts showing in Device Manager. Any thoughts? Thanks

    Any usb devices plugged in at start-up?

    Yes - Severeal - into a hub. But I have had this arrangement for years-nothing has changed in that regard.

    Just for the halibut ....disconnect them (all but mouse and keyboard) ..see if that changes anything.
