XP won't read 98 wordpad docs.

Documents I created on the old win98 machine with wordpad can't be opened by XP's wordpad. Any solutions?

Are you trying to open it by double-clicking on it? If so, try this instead: Open WordPad, then do a File-Open and browse to the file, and see if it will open it that way.

Try changing the extension of the file to .txt (same as: hold down SHIFT and right-click on the file and choose 'open with...' and pick Notepade.exe) and open them with Notepad then perhaps copy/paste them in Word or Wordpad? Just a suggestion...

Thanks for the link, kodo. That worked fine.

I wonder why Microsoft puts us through these situations. If Word needs updating, fine, but include the necessary viewer with the OS.
