If this is not the right place to post this, my apologies and I'll expect it to be moved.

Yahoo is impossible to find any help: phone, email, live chat, or elsewhere. As a result, I Googled "Yahoo Help" and was led to a website posing as "Yahoo" but in fact, was not. That phone conversation ended up costing me 171.00, with no resolution to my problem. This is background info., in case you're wondering why I'm looking here for help.

I can login to "Yahoo" using my email address and my Yahoo password. So far so good. I belong to a chat group in Yahoo, and it shows that I have mail, but I can't access it. I Vaguely remember opening a Yahoo Mail account, but I don't remember how to login to it. I have a feeling that's where my mail is.

I tried to get into Yahoo Community, to ask for help, but I can't get into that, either.

Are these three things seperate entities, which require different logins and passwords?

I assume you are saying you have two yahoo email addresses since you say you can log into yahoo mail and can't remember the password for one account, is that right?

Yahoo Help https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account Yahoo "Contact Us" at bottom of the page.

Yahoo Answers, Mail, Messenger, etc are all tied to one account. If you are having trouble accessing any of it with your login, I'd say something is fishy or your not going to the real Yahoo. Also, Yahoo Chat has not been around for 5 years.

Another thing, Yahoo Community is their forums and could provide help if you logged in with your account and posted the problems there as well.

    Yahoo Contact Us https://io.help.yahoo.com/contact/index?page=home&locale=en_SG

On a side note, Yahoo has been hacked a few times and account information has been leaked, like usernames and passwords. It is possible that your account has been compromised.

Since I don't have a smartphone, I set Yahoo up with alternate (currently two different) email addresses that are not Yahoo. If I have a problem, Yahoo sends emails to those two other addresses.

    Chat was closed

Yahoo messenger: As of March 27, 2016, the only supported clients are the Android, iOS and web browser clients.
So you have to use a browser to use Yahoo messenger.

The secret questions were also dropped so you can't retrieve anything by answering secret questions.

You will need to know your email address ********@yahoo.com . On the Yahoo login page https://login.yahoo.com/ if you put your email address then just type anything in for the password and it will ask if you are having trouble signing in or have forgot your password click on the link that will take you to a page that helps you recover your email account. Did you provide a different email address or a phone number to recover your password with? If you did you should be able to reset your password.

I can login to my Yahoo account using my email address.
I then try to read my Yahoo mail, but can't.
I wrote down a Yahoo Mail address in my secret password/login document, and when I try to login to the address that ends in ....................@yahoo.com, I'm told that it's an unrecognized address.

When I opened the Yahoo Mail account, a long time ago, there was no phone number required for recovery. There were 2 secret questions. PLODR said that the secret questions were eliminated in favor of a phone number, and I must agree with that statement.

They may not show up, but Yahoo hasn't gotten rid of security questions entirely.

I don't own a smartphone so I have never, even with the recent changes, added any sort of phone number. When asked for a phone number from time to time when I log in to YMail, I click skip.
Add recovery email addresses if you don't own a smartphone. That works.
