zone/region lock

i've recently moved back from canada, where i bought a laptop/notebook. the problem is here in nz most of the dvd's here r zone/region free, which is cool but my laptop is about to lock me to a region/zone i play a mix on it. my question is is there a crack or some update that will allow me to play different zoned/region dvd's with out getting locked on to one. the dvd-rom is a toshiba sd-r 2512

This one was recommended in a computer magazine once. I don't know if it's any good, but it's free, so you could give it a go.

One that worked for me, although I don't watch DVD's on my laptop much any more.

Windows 95/98/ME: Before you install RegionKiller 2, please check if you`ve already installed a previous version of RegionKiller - if you have, please uninstall it before you do anything else.
After you`ve uninstalled, verify that the file REGKILL.VXD was removed from C:WINDOWSSYSTEMIOSUBSYS.
