ZoneAlarm program controls

What kind of access do spywareblaster, AVG, spybot search and destroy, adaware, a-squared, and windows defender need? Right now I have green checks for ACCESS but what about SERVER ( Trusted and Internet). Anyone using these programs and zonealarm know what these settings should be? Also, are there any other programs that should have SERVER access. Thanks.

 

i'll try to answer your question.
i am pretty sure all those programs only require access rights only, they will never act as a server.
as far as what programs will act as a server, zone alarm will will let you know. On my program list I only had a few programs listed that could act as servers, most notably all my messager programs ( yahoo, msn etc ), internet explorer, my printer software up-date program ( from hp ) and a couple of m$ programs, but your list will vary, since your computer is different.
so no one can really answer your question exactly.

My default behavior is to deny server access on the internet. Very few programs actually need server access but many programs try anyways. Irksome - is it not? My advice? Deny deny deny. If the program truly will not work without server access on the internet, you'll notice. Then you can google research that individual program to find out why it needs server access. All the M$ programs in the operating system that demanded internet server access, I have denied. These include "Services and Controller app" "Windows Explorer" "Spooler SubSystem App" and "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services". By the way, "Internet Explorer" has never asked for server access but "Windows Explorer" has. Very irksome!
