Usually they will relocate aggressive gators but yeah that is scary. I was just down in Florida playing at a friend's course. Scariest thing there were this course were the Egyptian Geese (invasive species) that are very territorial and aggressive...but couldn't bite a hand off...I think.

I mean... they think they can. Geese in general are the worst. They should all be lunch.

Many years ago we went to a really big lavender farm in the Dandenong Ranges. It was a tourist type place and had many fields of lavender plants you could walk through and they also had a really nice rose garden with fountains and a picnic spot with a kiosk. After walking around and having a cup of coffee and a cake my wife decided she wanted to get some lavender scented candles and soap for presents. We asked at the kiosk and they said we had to go down the back to the souvenir shop near the big barn but to be careful of the watch geese. What the hell, watch geese WTF!!!! Yep they had about a dozen geese for security around the workshop and they were nasty. Flapping their wings, screeching and flying at us and then there was the pecking. Crikey!!! We finally got to the souvenir shop and I asked why the geese. The owner said that with all the people walking around they were finding tools missing from the workshop and the geese do a much better job than security dogs because they are so territorial and they do less damage than a dog bite.
Yeah Laura be careful around geese for sure!!

I watched an episode of a show on my tablet about a small farm with 60 sheep in Colorado. They use 2 alpacas or llamas to guard the sheep! The woman said the guard animals can protect the sheep against mountain lions.

Nah, they're just a tastier option. Like kicking someone in the knee if you're both being chased by bears...

The llamas spit and also attack with their feet.

hahaha....that tracks with what I know of geese! That's actually pretty brilliant. All I can say is it makes you feel better on a golf course around them because chances are you are holding a golf club in case one gets really aggressive. You can always scare it away...you hope.

Yeah hopefully the golf club works.... the lavender farm was the first and last time I encountered watch geese.....when they chased us the whole flock ran at us at the same time honking and pecking and flapping their wings....it was pretty scary. When we bought some candles in the souvenir shop, the lady escorted us safely passed the geese.....talk about running the gauntlet ;)

Reminds me when we went to The Blue Lake at Mount Gambier when the kids were fairly young (5yo and 7yo). We bought a bag of whitebait and went down to the lake to feed the pelicans with the kids. The pelicans were really friendly and the kids were really enjoying the feeding experience until...............we ran out of fish. The pelicans turned on us and chased us all the way back to the car park where we jumped into the safety of our big Toyota Landcruiser where they flew up onto the bonnet and pecked at the windscreen and crapped all over the bonnet and roof.............bloody birds ya can't trust em

Geese are mean. I have the "Canadian" variety up by me, and not only are they loud, and unintelligent (They walk out into traffic, and build their nests in nasty drain trenches) but they nest in entire flocks and leave cat-sized goose turds all over everything. All the local parks are landmines.

Ewwwwwww!!! After a hot day, I used to go walking in the cool evenings and imagine stepping on one of those landmines in the dark. Crikey!! It would be worse than a dog log for sure :eek:
