    Did that delete my extensions? If so... any way to retrieve the information within one of the extensions. I had session buddy and had sessions saved within there that I needed. :/

    You are right where we want to be.

    It did not delete the Extensions, only Disabled them.

    What we want to see is if the introduction of enabled Extensions is causing our issue. Monitor Chrome without Extensions for roughly the same period of time where you experienced the browser freeze with Extensions enabled. If the browser freezes stop and let me know. If it does not freeze, launch Chrome normally, with Extensions, then complete the below.

    ===================================================

    Chrome Task Manager

    --------------------
    • Launch Chrome
    • Click on the 3 dots near the upper right hand corner of the browser window
    • Select More tools
    • Select Task manager
    • Click on Memory footprint so that the largest number is at the top
    • Take a screen shot of this window and attach it to your reply
    ===================================================

    Things I would like to see in your next reply. Please be sure to copy and paste any requested log information unless you are asked to attach it.
    • Screen shot, if applicable

    Ok will do. How do I enable extensions again in Chrome? Do I have to re-look them up and add them manually or is there a different way that brings them all back?

    This is the next step if you don't experience any crashes.

    ===================================================

    Manually Troubleshooting Google Chrome Extensions

    --------------------
    • Launch Chrome normally
    • In the address bar type chrome://extensions and hit Enter
    • Disable half of the items, close then reopen Chrome, then check for symptoms
    • If the symptom remains, Disable 2 more, close then reopen Chrome, then recheck. Continue until you identify the problem extension(s)
    • If the symptom is gone after Disabling half the items, Enable 2 at a time, close then reopen Chrome, then recheck. Continue until you identify the problem extension(s)
    • Identify and report any extensions causing problems
    ===================================================

    Things I would like to see in your next reply. Please be sure to copy and paste any requested log information unless you are asked to attach it.
    • Results?

    Hello!

    So far, no crashing which is great! How do I launch Chrome normally with the extensions?
    Sorry, I missed the post about memory footprint. I attached it here (extensions are still disabled).

    Are you saying you completed the Manually Troubleshooting Google Chrome Extensions steps ultimately enabling all Extensions and it doesn't crash?

  7. SweetLD215

    SweetLD215 Private E-2

    No, sorry, I did the disable extensions step you gave me. That removed all the extensions. So far, Chrome hasn't crashed which is great... but my extensions are gone so how do I enable them again so I can do the manual troubleshoot of extensions?

    If you close the browser and start it normally all the extension you previously had enabled should be enabled again. If not, let me know.

    Ooh ok, I didn't realize that. I closed and opened Chrome and the extensions are back. I included the screen shot of the task manager/memory footprint right after opening with extensions enabled. Is that the correct next step? I'll keep an eye to see if it crashes again.

    There are times when disabling all extensions then re-enabling them resolves a hiccup that was causing problems. Let's monitor things and see if that is the case.

    So Chrome crashed, unfortunately. :(
    Should I go through the manually troubleshoot piece now? Or do something else?

    Ok, I think I disabled half.

    I got to the list of extensions. Does sliding the little button from blue to gray mean it's disabled? (Screenshot attached)

    Yes, exactly. Gray means Disabled.

    So far, no crashing! I'm going to try re-enabling two of them and seeing how that goes, per the instructions.

    I forgot the last two so I just enabled them last night.

    Excellent news. I think we are set.

    Are there any remaining questions or concerns you might have before I post some tool/log clean up instructions and other information for you to consider going forward?

    Very good. It has been a pleasure working with you.

    Here is our final step and some additional information to consider.

    ===================================================

    KpRm by Kernel-panik

    --------------
    • Download KpRm and save it to your Desktop (see here if you must use Chrome)
    • Note: If the file is detected as malware it is not and it is safe to download. The detection is a false positive.
    • Right click on the icon and select Run as administrator
    • Click Yes on the Disclaimer
    • Place a check mark in Delete Tools, Create Restore Point, and Delete in 7 days
    • Click Run
    • Click OK on All operations are completed
    • KpRm will delete itself from you Desktop and you can either save or remove the report that is generated
    • You are free to remove any other tools/reports still remaining

    Hi there, I haven't gotten to do the last post yet, but now - yesterday and today, Chrome is crashing again. :( I'm sorry, I thought it was all set.

    I'm not surprised.

    Please run a new FRST Scan and attach both reports to your reply.

    Greetings.
    The recent Chrome errors are again pointing to a possible memory issue. Do you know why you have 4 different Chrome Profiles?

  29. SweetLD215

    SweetLD215 Private E-2

    Yeah I've used different profiles for different things. Most of the time I'm only in one profile but once in awhile, I need to open a different one. I did go look and can delete it down to three though I know that's not a huge difference. It's rare to have two profiles open at once, if that helps?

    That does help, thanks.

    We need to invest the time to perform the Chrome troubleshooting steps again. The alternative option is to reset Chrome and I don't think you would want to do that unless absolutely necessary.

  31. SweetLD215

    SweetLD215 Private E-2

    Ok, I've disabled half the extensions and will keep an eye on it.

    I know this is a hassle but I think it is better to try to identify one thing causing the issue rather than taking drastic steps.
