Do You Have Any Pets?

My dog went to the groomer yesterday. They gave him a cookie that he absolutely wanted nothing to do with, but he got really mad when we tried to take it from him.

Do you have any pictures of your pets?

I love animals. I know people say you have to be a cat or a dog person, but I'm a "is it cute?" person. It will definitely read in my obituary that I died trying to pet something that I shouldn't have.

Aw, I was hoping to see pictures of everybody's fur babies. It cheers me up when I'm feeling low.

Maxwell is recovering from surgery. He had a huge tumor in his neck, and a couple of other small cysts/tumors. The vet said she feels good about the removal, there could be problems in the future, but said things went very well.

I have a feeling Maxwell is going to milk this for all it is worth once he feels a little better. I am his "person" since I have had him so long, but he knows my wife is the sweet one, who will baby him. He was awake for about 10 mins after this picture, woke up, went outside then ate a little bit. My wife got him to take a pain pill, and he is sleeping next to my desk now.

 

My pup Shiloh is an 11 year old red wheaten rhodesian ridgeback and her pic as a pup is my avatar. I don't want to post a pic as life is very sad around here as she has cancer and is on palliative care/end of life drugs. She is not in pain at the moment but she has really slowed down in the last two months. In February the vet said she would probably have less than six months of quality life and then there would be a very tough decision to make......Shiloh is getting the best care and is still happy and quite playful. I am dreading making that decision as it will be heart breaking
She is our family's loyal protector and my close companion when I am having a bad health day.........sad days ahead

 

I'm sorry your puppy (they're all puppies, no matter how old they are) is nearing end of life. My friend also has a 1yo Rhodesian ridgeback named Kastagir and he is a lot of dog.

 

Thanks Wenchie. Ridgebacks are great family dogs and are very good at security and looking after the kids. People see the size of them and don't take them on as they are very strong and also athletic. Another Ridgeback trait is they are playful pups right up to the end. They are generally very healthy dogs but I must say our previous purebred Ridgeback also died of cancer aged 11.........so cancer might be their ticking timeclock

Why so much cancer these days? WTF!!! When I was a kid my Australian Terrier was 16 when he went to sleep under a mate's car and got squished.....no signs of cancer!!

Poor Shiloh might be closer to the rainbow bridge than we want to believe. Today wasn't a great day for her even with the drugs and although she wasn't complaining you could see she was having problems with the back leg that had the tumour removed. A couple of times I had to help her to stand up as her leg was bent the wrong way and she couldn't move it to the correct position to stand up by herself.
I am really torn on what to do and I feel empty and sad
Guess I will be calling the vet tomorrow as I couldn't bear to see her suffer

I may buy another budgie. I had one up to 2011 called Danny. Or Danny II as my gran had a prior bird named Danny. It was ironic, because she was not allowed to bring him to Australia when she relocated in the 60s. I say ironic, as this is where budgerigars come from anyway.

 

I miss my budgie. It was a smart one, and we taught it to say "Bix is a pretty bird!" But I haven't had another one since.
