Ip Cameras

Is there any way to make a web camera an IP address that I can monitor from another computer?

So I install yak yacam in my backroom computer, set the yawcam to stream then realized I haven't got a clue how to pick it up on my main machine in my bedroom?

I tried to Google it without luck. I don't wanna record this video I just want to see it remotely.

 

I believe you need to install the app on the machine you're viewing the stream on. Since both machines are probably on the same WiFi network, you would use the local IP address for the camera. To find this information, you can login to your router and view it. Or, the app on the streaming machine may show you.

BTW, thought of something. Is this a USB camera connected to a PC? Or WiFi?

 

You enable http in the program, then open cmd, type ipconfig, write down the IP address, then go to another PC and type http://ipaddress:8081 in the browser's address bar.
Based on the MG screen shots.. I have not ran this is a while, I use IP based cameras.

Sorry, click enable stream... picture is fuzzy, that is port 8081? looks like 8888? It should be 8081 if you didn't make any changes in the settings.

 

The IP address I have is

Where did you get that ip address and port number from?

 

From the computer with the webcam and yawcam software. It's probably something I'm either doing /or not doing.

 

Settings... try this on the local computer too.. if it is not working maybe it is your firewall or something else blocking.
