You need to use msconfig to put this machine back into normal start up please.

Are you able to scan with Malware Bytes in safe mode?

What malware issues are you having? (Apart from what MBAM is finding)

Rerun scans in normal startup? May take a while. I always use a cleen boot because processor gets overloaded from all the crap. Will try running malware bytes in safe mode. Two issues- sometimes web browser slows way down or freezes and hard drive seems to be working alot when this happens, and about 2 weeks ago all sounds beginning at xp load screen are badly distorted. checked speakers, ac97 driver reinstall, installed kcodec, checked volume levels...no luck. The only thing I remember tah may be relevant is clicking a video that streamed via WMP that i normally dont use(usually flash). Is it possible that it is a bad codec in windows startup? Thank you

FYI for Kestrel13! and pnm:

Reasons for these issues are not malware. Problems are:
  • Older slow PC.
Quote:

Processor x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0 AuthenticAMD ~2191 Mhz
  • Not enough memory to properly run Windows and other applications. 6 times the memory installed is needed
Quote:

Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 186.39 MB
  • Almost out of hard disk space which make the limited memory issue from above even worse. And it is not enough free space to properly run Windows and other applications.
