Default Destructable Enviroments

I really wanna start seeing enviroments that can be destroyed,it seems that with the latest games like battlefield 2 the enviroments have been negated for sparkly graphics,I think its long overdue, red faction had an attempt as did operation flashpoint, holes could be blown through walls to reach different places,in flashpoint the buildings would crumple up like they were made of paper not very realistic but you could tell a battle has beed fought

I think it would be amazing to see a map in BF2 become more and more destroyed over the round,so how important is it to you or what would you rather the development time spent on?

i think battlefield: bad company is going to have such an environment:

"IGN: Can you give some examples of how Bad Company's massively destructible scenery and 'sandbox' environments will influence gameplay in single and multiplayer modes?

Karl Magnus Troedsson: It's going to change how people play in the sandbox since it's so much more than just eye candy. Earlier, the environments have been open but still static, meaning that there's only been so many ways to attack a CP or so many good sniper positions overlooking a target. This will all change now since you can create your own vantage points by taking down a wall or blowing your own way, force yourself forward to a CP through your own alley of destruction. This will also be closer tied into the actual game mode in multiplayer but I don't want to reveal any details on this just yet."

i think now that modern hardware can handle it better we should start to see it incorporated well in new games

The new Superman game is supposed to have destructible environments. And it will affect what happens in the game. If a building is detroyed than something can't happen inside it later on. So it sounds like the game would be different playing it a second time and not destroying the building. You are supposed to be able to take the globe off the Daily Planet. There's a video online showing the game. Superman throw the globe and then uses his super breath to move it more. Then he turns around and blows the cars that are behind him. I believe this was actual gameplay.
