Sorry guys, after this WU is done, i'm uninstalling folding @ home.
My laptop processor was being pushed up to 70 degrees C, way to hot for my liking. In a week or so after im done assembling the desktop im wrking on, ill start up again using the 64 x2 6000 + :D that should throw some serious protein punches. |

Just remember gimpster123 and the rest of you considering "Folding" you do not need to leave you computer on all the time, just "Fold" when you are "on" the computer, and remember with the "Graphic Client" you can shut down "Folding" anytime you want. In fact when ever I do shut down one of my machines I always shut down "folding" prior to shuting Down the machine. Hey its just two Keystrokes and you are certain then that one you will save all current folding data, and two you will always get the extra boost.
Remember everyone to keep the "Fun" in "Folding", don't knock yourself out or you will want to quit. Science needs all the "Folders" it can get |

You could always throttle the cpu usage back to reduce the temp.

I thought about using my laptop, and decided against. Too expensive to repair, and folding or not, a machine that stays on all the time is more likely to die than one that gets occasional use, and parts are dirt cheap for desktops. As is, I have to order keyboard parts for my Dell laptop.
Laptops (at least my laptops) tend to be a lot slower too. Goes back to part being cheaper / performance too. |
