How do I get to Root??
Hello,
I need to be Root to update some applications. How do I become Root in Ubuntu 8.04 kernel 2.6.24.18 Thank you.

direct root access has been disabled. So just use sudo.
From a terminal, sudo 'command' Hit enter, enter password. Last edited by Adrynalyne; 06-04-08 at 14:07..

Ubuntu is the lesser of many evils. I have yet to find a distro I truly like since Arch went to crap.
At any rate, like any other distro, make it your own. Don't like that root is disabled? Enable it then. sudo passwd root. Log in, set a root password. Then System > Administration > Login Window > Security and enable the local admin logon. Done and done.
