Default Shaw problem...

Hey all,

I've been having some trouble lately (Like the last 3 days) with my Shaw internet connection.

Just FYI, I have the shaw connection split 4 ways via a router. Usually only 2 computers are online at a time though (One is for the Xbox, and one the crappy computer)

I am wondering 2 things here, any help is appreciated.
1) I am experiencing 50% results of normal cable on badwidth tests (~700kbps is my speed, normal cable is about 1500 - 3000). Does this have to do with my router/firewall?

2) I play a lot of internet based games (Planetside and EQ) and since a few days ago, I have been dissconnected every 5 minutes or so. It happens with the internet when I'm browsing, too (Get the Detecting Proxy settings... message) I know this isn't a router problem; I unplugged the real cable before it hit the router, and plugged it intop my computer. Still didn't work, but did after about 5 minutes.

Is it just shaw and how crappy it is? Is it my router? Firewall perhaps?

I'm sorry if my questions sound confusing, but thanks everyone for the help :D

for the speed, cable networking shares the speed between every house in your neighborhood, so this changes a lot.

I would suggest turning off Automatically Detect Settings, under LAN Settings. This should help with the detecting proxy problem.
