Sound Problem on Acer Aspire 5000 laptop

hey i got realtek earlier today for my windows xp, I got it on the acer site and I unzipped it and did the set-up but it still will not work what's the problem.

you should of created a new thread rather than jump in and open an old one.
Ok so you have downloaded and ran the set up for the driver from the site??
was it this driver here....

I need to know at what service pack that your OS is at sp1/sp2 or sp3.

Go here... start> control panel> admin tools> services.... check to see if the services for audio are started and set to automatic (see attachments). right click on Multimedia class scheduler and check the settings are the same as mine, same goes for the Windows audio service.

i can only find in system, windows audio which is on and set to automatic. and yes i got my driver from that link there.

Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)
