Hi
I've had some problems for a time with random crashes and BSOD. I tried some of the free Anti Virus programs, and some of they show something, and some don't. I would guess at a malware causing it, but I can't be sure. The frequency of BSOD is almost daily. I ran all the steps of the read me thread, and the only real obstacle was the ComboFix which crashes to BSOD every time. The MalwareBytes seemed to find something, but removed it as far as I could see. I attached the 3 logs that I have. Any help would be really appriciated! I have spent hours upon hours on this stuff now... Thanks in advance. Fingon. |

Please do the below so that we can boot to System Recovery Options to run a scan.
For x32 (x86) bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive. For x64 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive. Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC. Enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options: Quote:

Download this >> fixlist.txt
Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait. The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt). Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach) Now boot into normal Windows can continue with the below. See if you can run ComboFix now. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). Then attach the below logs:

Ok.
But the ComboFix still causes BSOD. I skipped the step and continued with your instructions. Fixlog and MGlog attached. |

Hi again.
I had 3 suspicious objects where the default action is SKIP, which I didn't change. No problems, it seems to be doing what it is supposed to do. Haven't tried to start the ComboFix again though, or try to provoce the BSOD in any way. Normally, it happens after maybe an hour or two, but now I turn off the computer every day after posting today's post. Want me to try the ComboFix and see if it can be defined as cured? |

Wow, ComboFix ran without any difficulty! It asked for a update which I said no to, and it had to start in "reduced functionality mode".
It looked like it remove the hostsvd-file or what it's name. Tadaaa, Combofix-log attached ![]() Am I cleared? |

TDSS is an infection. After deleting the above with TDSSkiller, reboot immediately and after reboot, run a new scan and attach the new log. We want to make sure they are really gone. Then delete your copy of ComboFix.exe and download and use a new version. combofix.exe Run it and attach the new log.

Hi again.
TDSSkiller ran and deleted the line you said. After the reboot, it didn't find anything else than the two lines to skip. I deleted ComboFix and downloaded it again. I still got the same message telling me to update it. This time I accepted, and it seemed to update to latest version. The first scan was sort of aborted due to empty battery, but I ran it again successfully. See logs attached. |

You're logs are clean.
If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
