Default Windows 98 windows error protection error

i need help
i have to use a printer, epson fx1050 , for taking my college printouts, i have xp and 98 and now my 98 gives me windows protection error, how do i fix it or can i find drivers for xp, please help

According to Epson, XP has built-in support for the FX-1050. Info here:

Regarding the windows protection error in 98, can you post your hardware specs and tell us the exact wording/number of the error and what you're doing when it happens.

i read the epson site , thanks
here's what happens now
i can run my epson from dos(turbo c/c++)and print what i want but i cannot print from word notepad or other programs in windows xp.
Is it drivers??

as for the windows protection heres my specs

Amd athlon xp 2000+
512 mb ram
nvidia geforce 4 mx 440 se with tv out
logitech optical wireless mouse and wireless keyboard
creative sound blaster live 5.1 de
lg dvd ron drive and also lg cd rw drive
pinnale pc tv card
19" Lg 900b monitor
anything else i need to add
?

oops i forgot to tell you
all it says is Windows Protection error. You need to restart your computer
no other error messages or numbers
then the next time i am able to run in safe mode
my friend suggeted i disable all drivers
how?

that definately sounds like corrupted drivers. boot to safe mode.. remove all remnances of the epson and reinstall the drivers for it.

i never had the epson installed when i protection error started.
the reason i want win98 to start working is so that i can use it to print from word and notepad, 4 now i can print from dos in xp

i was wondering if anyone can help me. i formatted my laptop and then installed windows 98. it installed and then restarted to check hardware. it went through the checklist of desktop etc and then come up saying windows protection error, you have to restart before it made it to windows.

any thoughts?
