Recommend a DVD drive

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a good DVD drive, needs to be internal, +-r, black and cheap i.e. sub £40.
I had a lite-on drive that I posted about a couple of weeks back which I had to send back, so I want to steer clear of them and NEC.

Any ideas anyone? (UK)

Well Most sony drives are made by liteon except a few like th 810a it is a BENQ drive. You might be able to find a Benq for that much. Check out this link and it will give you the pros and cons of alot of different manufactures. What Liteon drive did you send back I recently had to rma the 160p6s and the return drive works fine.

It was this one, can't find a model number for some reason!? something like shw-160ps.

It worked fine buring DVD's and reading blank ones. When it came to reading pressed media (actual legit ones) it wouldnt recognise them. Just kept getting empty DVD drive messages.
I was probably just unlucky as I have seen some good reviews for lite-on DVD drives, that just kind of put me off them.

I checked that website and they have the sony 810a for around 39 pounds and it is made by BENQ it is a rebaged 1640(BENQ) very good drive.
