Thumbs down New to the Mac

I have recently bought an iMac complete with OS X Leopard. There are currently a couple of issues I don't understand and I would appreciate some advice.

The first is that on a PC windows that are resized retain that size (and position) on a restart. How can I achieve this on the Mac?

The second is that all windows on a PC are dynamic - if icons/progs are deleted or added they rearrange to the previously selected display e.g. arranged/sorted by name. On the Mac I am forever having to Arrange various windows after I delete or install an icon/prog - as it doesn't seem able to do this automatically. Is there a setting or whatever that I am missing?

Hope you can help.

Cheers,

Tzus

When you change the size of a window, do it by using the lower right-hand corner of the window. This should retain the size unless you change it again. This goes for the Finder and application windows too.

There are options for the finder to arrange icons by name, snap to grid, etc. Check out your Finder Preferences under Finder or under View.

Hi, I think maybe you missed the rules of the forum when you signed up.

Quote:

No Bullying - Do not pick on other members. The worst kind of bullying is where new members are picked on. This hurts the member as well as the board.

No Flaming - Flaming harms the nice atmosphere of Majorgeeks. It also causes thread's to go off topic, and most importantly, it hurts the person being flamed. The victim may defend themselves against any accusations made to them, but may not make any additional accusations to the flamer (which also counts as flaming).
This is your first and last warning. Treat people with respect.

Whatever platform, it is a machine for a job, what do you what it to do? I switched to mac as I am into multimedia and find macs have a wider range of apps that suit me such as Final Cut & DVD studio pro. I would guess many mac users are attracted to iLife. imho
