WoW Account Hacked?
WoW Account Hacked?
Step 1 -- Secure your computer and e-mail first !!!
- The first thing you must do is secure your e-mail and computer. Especially your e-mail.
- Login to your e-mail from a known safe/clean computer and change your password to something much more difficult to guess. Make sure you use a strong password. See the below link:
- Make sure that you are not responding to a Fake E-mail alert like below:

"WARNING!!! Your World of Warcraft account has been turned off! Log in IMMEDIATELY to prevent it from being erased!!" And then the email asks the user to click on a link and enter their password, and it's downhill from there...so make sure that the account actually has been hacked.

- If you have anti-virus protection, make sure that it is fully up to date. If you have a paid subscription, make sure that you have paid your subscription fee so that you can get updates. Then please run your antivirus program and remove any viruses and spyware.
- If you do not have antispyware protection, you need to install one and run scans immediately. See the below link for suggestions:
- Additionally, you can have us check your system for malware by following the instructions in the below link and attaching your logs to a thread you create in the Malware Forum:
Step 2 -- Secure your Hacked WoW account !!!
- Once you are sure your computer is clear and safe and your e-mail is under your control then proceed to restore your hacked WoW account. First you can make an attempt to login to your World of Warcraft Battlenet account and change your password.
- You may have to reset your password so follow the instructions on their site to do so.
- IF this works then login to WoW to boot the hacker from the game and assess the damage.
- IF you are missing items or your guild is missing items or gold then you will need to contact BLIZZARD.
- IF NOT -- Then you can go about your life and be happy that you got lucky and nothing bad happened. This is rare

- IF you cannot change your password or you cannot get into your account because of "authenticator" issues then you need to contact BLIZZARD
- When you contact Blizzard, do it from your verified email address, the one they have on file and will recognize as yours. That's how you establish your identity to them and show them that it's your account.
